The whole beach was ours to enjoy! Plus, there are these adorable tiny restaurants where you can feast on the freshest seafood caught just steps away from you. It’s like a little slice of paradise. And the best part is multiple tour companies in Puerto Vallarta can take you directly to Yelapa, making it super convenient. Oh, and the place is just Instagram-worthy! So, while we had a blast sipping drinks at the main town beaches, there’s something so special about hopping on a boat and feeling like a celebrity on a deserted beach. Yelapa, my friends, is the real deal!

For a rewarding hike into nature’s wonders, head to Quimixto Beach! It’s a bit longer, but trust me, worth it. Start by getting to Boca de Tomatlan via Uber, taxi, or bus, where locals may tempt you with boat rides to other beaches. But stay on track for Quimixto’s paradise!

Remember, if you need clarification on the path, stick close to the beach, and you’ll be on the right track when you’re ready to head back, either hike or hop on a boat taxi back to Boca de Tomatlan for 50–60 pesos or straight to Puerto Vallarta for 200 pesos. I was lucky to be a housesitter in Puerto Vallarta for two months! The house was this beautiful colonial gem smack dab in the heart of Viejo Vallarta (Old Town), one of the coolest spots to stay in Puerto Vallarta. Viejo Vallarta has that vintage charm, fantastic restaurants, and art galleries; the best part is its proximity to Malecon. You’ve got to check out the Malecon – a scenic two-mile-long paved walkway along Banderas Bay, often called the Boardwalk in Puerto Vallarta. It stretches along the most amazing beaches, starting at the Hotel Villa Premiere in Viejo Vallarta and ending at Playa Los Muertos in Zona Romantica. Along the Malecon, you’ll find awesome bars, restaurants, and beautiful statues, like the Boy on the Seahorse sculpture by Francisco Rafael Zamarripa. Don’t miss the colourful Puerto Vallarta letters sign – it’s like a dreamy Instagram photo spot!

Are you an art lover? Well, Puerto Vallarta is THE place to be! It’s got more art galleries than any other Mexican coastal city – pretty cool, right? And you know what’s even cooler?
